Finals Dirt
Thu Oct 22, 2009 2:51PM
Dirt
The dirt is normally sandy loam (rodeo dirt) think MX with ruts developing.
We are trying to return to the dirt consistency we had in 2007. Last year the dirt dried out too much and became slick because of the big overhead fans. This year we will water even more each night and not run those fans at all (like 2007). So the moisture should stay all day like that year. 2007 almost any tire worked but I think most used crimefighters or bowtie. As long as the dirt doesn't do anything screwy this year a larger pin tire will probably be best. Last year it dried out each day and hard packed in areas then got slick with dust on top of that. Completely different than the year before and the only difference was the fans and we used a ride on roller to pack it last year. Also the outside temps will play into this last year it was warm all week not sure how this year will be yet. We could do with some cooler temps to help keep moisture in the dirt. Maintenance will be done each night so each morning the track will be groomed.
Finals

As most have noticed some things are different this year. I have had several ask questions that are answered on the signup pages but as we know if there is too much writing sometimes it gets ignored.
If you have read all this before I'm sorry for repeating it but I continue to get questions about the following subjects so apparently there have been some who have not seen the previous info.
This event is very expensive for us to put together in this kind of location but we continue to do it so no one has to worry about weather at our largest event of the year. This is not a money making event for RC Pro at best we hope to break even on it. We are trying to reduce the losses we have had in previous years and make this event more likly to not lose money with some of the things we are doing this year. I would love to just say everything is free and lets have fun but I'm not rich or getting rich from RC Pro regardless of what a couple people on the internet think. This year has been down for the entire industry thus we expect our entry level to be lower than in the past. Just a fact that people can't afford to go to races as much this year due to the economy so like all of you we have to cut our expenses as much as possible so we can afford to do this. Normally it takes everything we bring in entry wise plus some to pay for this event so with less entries expected we have to reduce the "plus some" portion so we don't have a repeat of Rockford in 2006. This particular race is the reason why Mary and I have not had a christmas in the last 4 years.
Tables and chairs.
if you can't bring your own there will be some for rent. To make sure we have enough these need to be paid for in advance. If you want to use your own thats fine. There WILL NOT be a bunch of extra at the race! We will only order what we need to order (those that are paid for).
WHY are we charging for these now? The cost has gradually risen each year and more and more people have decided to use them instead of bring their own (local guys). Sorry but these are costing about $3000 per year now. I can't afford to do it anymore as part of the entry.
Stalls.
We only charge what the arena charges us for these. Mary deals with the hassles of doing these without making anything for it. Please bring your own locks.
In the past we have had people just decide to setup in a stall, it doesn't work that way your stall will be assigned based on when you signed up for it. Occupied stalls not assigned will be locked with our locks. This di get much better last year but the arena charges us for occupied stalls not what is on our list so the 1st year we were charged for an addition $2000 over what was paid. This is why we are doing it the way we are now.
RV spots.
Same as the stalls. Each year we have people hookup that don't pay thus we get charged for them. Breakers will not be turned on until you have paid for your spot. The RV hookup area is ONLY for people who need the hookups. There is plenty of parking lot area to park if you do not need the hookups. The 110v plugs are not sufficient to handle an RV these must be plugged in to the 30 amp recepticles. You must have a 30 amp RV plug or adapter on your cord.
Trailers in the building.
NO TRAILERS in the building! Someone always asks. Last year we had a couple and they were charged as if they were an RV by the arena. It's just easier to say no and not deal with the problems.
