South Rd 1

Wed Apr 2, 2008 12:36PM

As mentioned in a previous post yesterday the tracks are supposed to make some changes for the RC Pro event.

Bossier City hauled dirt in 2 weeks ago to make track changes for this event. The day after the dirt was dropped it started raining. I'm sure everyone has seen the weather reports and how much rain has fallen between Louisiana and Chicago in the last few weeks? Because of this they have not been able to change the track. The track has been soaked basically for the last 2 weeks this week it is starting to dry up and the forecast for this weekend is looking good so we should be ok. Today and tomorrow they are going to work on getting the new dirt that was dropped on the back section of the track out of the way so we can race. Who knows they may still be able to make a few changes but if I were in that situation I would concentrate on just making the track ready to race on.

I'm sure someone will complain to me but hopefully everyone will understand they couldn't work on the track when it was a mud bog.

Permanent Number Requests

Wed Apr 2, 2008 10:54AM

A number of people have requested permanent numbers but are on hold right now. It seems atleast once a year the Xcel file get's corrupted and has to be rebuilt. This time it happened at the beginning of the year which is the busiest time for assigning numbers. Our numbers guy is trying to get it rebuilt but he is also currently working 80 hour weeks at his regular job so please give him time to get it all done. I will post here when he has it repaired. If he assigned you a number or you had one assigned in the past don't worry they won't change. He has to go back and re enter all 2,000 assigned numbers from the past before he can assign anymore to make sure there aren't duplications.

Because of this I'm also looking for a program that can be tied into our website that will automaticly approve number requests right on the website. If anyone knows of one or can program something like that pleae let me know. That would really simplify the permanent numbers.

thanks
Carlton

New year same stuff!

Tue Apr 1, 2008 9:57PM

Every year I get the same email.

Does a track have to make changes to the layout before the RC Pro race?
The answer is and always has been YES.

In the early years of RC Pro we required a full track changes. This created several problems though. The main issue is with a full track changes right before the event the tracks never were packed in completely thus they would blow out bad. The other issue is a lot of tracks need to race weekly to pay the bills and shutting down to make major changes costs them.

So now we require that there be some changes by adding jumps, deleting jumps, changing lane directions or changing the rotation of the track. This has worked out pretty good and results in less blown out tracks than in the past. The main idea is to take away the locals advantage over the out of towners becuase they have ran on the track for multiple races.
